A variety of entertainments such as fireworks, dancing, a parade, opera performances are arranged to celebrate Mazu’s birthday.
Although attendees enjoy the entertainment, the performance is for the goddess. Puxian opera performer Cheng Zhigui, pictured, says, "We perform for Mazu. We believe she's watching us sing opera. Even if nobody came, she'd still be watching us."
